The Field Service Engineer will provide robotic programming and professional technical expertise to customers. The support includes quality integration, installation, customer training, making independent technical data driven decisions. This role will be on-site at a customer’s facility and in-office when needed.
Essential Functions:
- Travel on average about 90% domestically at drivable distances primarily in the Mid-West region with some abroad. Travel will be provided with 48hrs to two weeks’ notice.
- Expect expended stay at customer sites ranging from one day to 60 days.
- Preventive Maintenance on various robot models and controllers
- Provide technical support and training while driving programming standards
- Stand out as an example for standardization of processes for robot system engineers and programmers to follow.
- Commit to providing customers with priority service for Acieta systems built and in production at their site.
- Communicate frequently and in detail to the Field Service Manager regarding customer concerns or barriers to efficiency.
- Follow customers’ standard operation procedures including but not limited to (i.e. telephone log of service calls, trip report log and file, reference file of Service Manuals and "Engineering Bulletins" from FANUC or other vendors).
- Maintain records for the centralized customer service office which clearly documents software files enabling project ease of access for follow up by any technician in the field to restore a cell to ideal state while troubleshooting.
- Support and back up other technicians in the field and in the shop for larger robotic system assembly projects
- Utilize various software programs available within Acieta to assist with computer utilization goals of the company.
- Support regional sales efforts through customer visits, technical support, and aftermarket support.
- Make timely recommendations to other departments to achieve quality improvement or lowering of design, build, and programming costs. Draw from experience of testing and operating products; training programs; or customer inputs.
- When assigned by Field Service Manager, assist in handling incoming calls for service assistance or parts orders consistent with the company's Spare Parts Order Policy or other comparable policies.
- Knowledge share for the success of the project, customer needs and empower the service organization
- Complete Field Service Report and submit to stakeholders; obtain customer sign-off as appropriate
- Adhere to the company’s safety policies as well as customer’s site safety requirements to maintain a safe work environment for employees

- Carry out other tasks and assignments as requested by immediate supervisor.
Education, Experience, Skills, and Physical Requirements:
- Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor of Science (BS) in related engineering field or Associate’s degree (A.A.) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; 2-4 years experience with PLC, HMI, motion control, robot, and other automation; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

- Peripheral device programming and troubleshooting, including robots, vision, motion control
- Read electrical schematics and mark up changes as needed
- Skilled at using volt meters to troubleshoot devices and other standard testing devices
- Machine troubleshooting of electrical and programming; mechanical is a plus
- Working knowledgeable and experienced working safely with 480 volts
- Relevant experience with Allen-Bradley PLC, HMI, and motion control
- Experience working with mechanical systems operated by pneumatics, hydraulics, motor controllers
- Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
- Able to professionally communicate with both internal and external customers as part of a solution-based process
- Gains energy from working in a fast-paced self-directed environment
- Must be at ease working with others of essentially equal or even greater technical expertise and experience of an effective manner.
- Must have the ability to make independent, advanced and technological decisions with projects while maintaining communications with Project Managers to complete project and customer satisfaction.
