The Application Engineer will assist the sales force in winning orders by providing quality proposals/contracts that demonstrate our understanding of the customer requirements and puts Acieta in the best position for success.  This role includes extensive investigation into the customers’ product(s), their method of manufacturing that product and an understanding of the equipment we offer to make them a more efficient and competitive manufacturer.  Solutions must be offered with a keen eye on cost and risk to the customer to help us become selected.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the products that we offer through periodic training and hands on exposure to the equipment so that it’s capabilities are well understood.
  • Become proficient in the use of engineering tools i.e. AutoCad 2D and Solidworks, Word, Excel, Salesforce. Be efficient and effective at use of standard forms for proposals and costing.
  • Manage all data for the execution of the application per the agreed upon format i.e. file storage on servers, archival of data etc.
  • Provide detailed sequence of operations with timing estimates; making sure all necessary information about an application has been obtained to provide accurate proposals. This will sometimes require “pulling” information out of a customer (many customers may not have any experience with automation and not know what is critical information and what is not).  Must be able to make and document reasonable assumptions when information is not available.
  • Work with 3rd part vendors to spec out equipment needed for the application that comply with our internal team’s expectations.
  • Make recommendations to improve processes or lower design or manufacturing cost of the company’s products. Contribute by being an active member of assigned teams even after the order has been issued. 
  • Work with the Team Leader to resolve issues that arise during the execution of an order. Team leader’s will handle day-to-day communications with the customer but may need assistance on some issues.
  • Adhere to company’s safety policies to create a safe working environment for everyone.
  • Carry out other tasks and assignments as requested by immediate supervisor.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Physical Requirements:

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering would be preferred. Experience in the field of industrial automation, with a focus on custom solutions preferred.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical design drawings. Ability to write clear and thorough correspondence, instructions, memos, and meeting notes. Ability to conceptualize and translate complex technical ideas into clear and concise proposals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situation to vendors, clients, and other employees of the organization including managers and executives. Familiarity with Electrical and Pneumatic Controls designs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete or vague variables in complex situations. Ability to identify and quantify cost factors such as time, materials, expenses, tooling etc.
  • Licenses and Other Requirements:
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
    • Proficiency in relevant software tools and technologies used in industrial automation.
    • Strong understanding of automation hardware, software, and controls systems.
    • Five years of Automation, Sales, Robotics, Project Management, or equivalent experience in an organization is a plus.

This is a remote role, and it is expected that your home office is ergonomically sound and free from clutter and hazards. This is a 100% "camera on" virtual role, meaning active participation with video is required during meetings and interactions.   • Business casual attire required. Steel-toed boots and eye protection may be required in a shop setting.
